How Tessera Began
Tessera was established in 2017 by a small group of analysts and engineers who had spent years watching organisations in Hong Kong struggle to make sense of AI vendor claims. The gap between what was promised and what actually worked was, frankly, wide — and closing it became the founding purpose of the firm.
The name comes from the small tiles used in mosaic work. Each tessera is modest on its own; together, they form something coherent and meaningful. That's how we think about AI in organisations — not as a single transformative moment, but as a series of well-placed, well-fitted contributions that add up over time.
From our office in Mong Kok, we've worked alongside procurement teams, operations managers, IT leads, and executive sponsors — each with different levels of technical familiarity, and each deserving clear, honest guidance.
Today, Tessera focuses on three areas where we believe we can genuinely help: intelligent search, anomaly detection, and vendor evaluation. These aren't the flashiest corners of AI, but they're the ones where good implementation produces real, lasting results.

Wei has spent fifteen years at the intersection of data analysis and enterprise technology, with a focus on translating AI capability into operational practice for mid-size organisations.
Suki Kwong
Lead Implementation Engineer
Suki leads the technical delivery of search and anomaly detection systems, with particular care given to integration complexity and long-term maintainability of deployed solutions.
Marcus Chan
Vendor Research Analyst
Marcus specialises in structured evaluation frameworks for AI platforms, developing the methodologies that underpin Tessera's vendor assessment service and keeping abreast of the fast-moving market.
